Host-Pathogen Interactions during Invasive Fungal Infections

We are interested in host-pathogen interactions and, in particular, in understanding how some pathogens are able to subvert the innate immune system. Most of our work focuses on the interaction between invasive fungal pathogens, such as Cryptococcus and Rhizomes species, and phagocytic cells. In this talk, I will discuss some of the remarkable molecular trickery that these pathogens use to hijack host immune cells and speculate about how such elaborate mechanisms may have evolved.
