Dr. Jennifer Tullet from the School of Biosciences was one of the judges and presenters of the KM Bright Spark event, showcasing school science projects in the South East of England. The event was held at Discovery Park in July 2015.

The Bright Spark initiative encourages primary and secondary students in schools to collaborate using cross-curricular skills in maths, IT, science and engineering to innovate and create. The annual awards event takes the form of a dragons’ den-style format with students invited on stage to describe their creation. Finalists were filmed in advance in school to show the detail of the project. This was screened before the dragons quiz the youngsters on their initiative. Different panels of “dragons” (including Dr. Tullet!) judged the varying categories or year groups and awarded trophies and experience prizes to the students and schools.
