Biosciences PhD student completes London Marathon

Many congratulations to James Budge, a PhD student in the School of Biosciences, for completing the London Marathon in an impressive 3 hours and 37 minutes and finishing 6,232 out of around 36,000 competitors. James has raised £1,750 for his chosen charity Hft, which provides local support services to people with learning disabilities and their families. His fundraising efforts were supported by a charity bake sale in the School of Biosciences which raised £250, while generous individual donations from the School’s staff and students contributed to a total that is likely to exceed £2,000 in the coming weeks.

Equally impressive was School of Biosciences alumnus Neil Renault, who completed the same event in 2 hours 24 minutes and finished 11th in the non-elite race. This must be a record for a School of Biosciences graduate!
